Northern Sky Knowledge and Heritage Research Initiative
Phase II of The Legendary Sky Project is focused on the development of regional and community-specific initiatives that promote experiential learning and the development of tools that connect youth to northern sky knowledge and heritage information in NWT classrooms.
In the South Slave Region multiple organizations have expressed interest in supporting research and curriculum development initiatives. As a result, the Aurora Research Institute, Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre, South Slave Divisional Education Counciland the Thebacha and Wood Buffalo Astronomical Society are teaming up with Astronomy North to undertake important knowledge and heritage research that will contribute to the development of regional and/or community-specific learning modules.
Beginning in 2014, partners will explore research options and collaborate on the development of tools to enhance curriculum and ensure modern and traditional knowledge of the sky is available at the community level for the benefit of youth todayand for future generations.
